Two Serpents Gallery

I visited the Two Serpents Petroglyph Site (my name for the site) on the early morning of Wednesday, May 26, 2021. I was quite proud of myself for finding this obscure site! I Took This First Group of 20 Photos With My Nikon P1000…

DSCN8718 — This is one of the first photos I took of the Two Serpents in the early morning light.

DSCN8719 — A slightly different view of the magnificent Two Serpents Panel.

DSCN8721 (1) — My view from about half-way up as I climbed up to the Two Serpents.

DSCN8723 — The zoomorph sticks out in the area to the right of the Two Serpents but as you get closer there are lots of interesting elements, including a spiral snake.

DSCN8724 — An unusual isolate in the area.

DSCN8725 — In this closer view of the panel to the right of the Two Serpents, you can see the spiral serpent and what appear to be the remnants of some black pictographs.

DSCN8730 — The area to the left of the Two Serpents contains some interesting art.

DSCN8733 — There is a lot going on here.

DSCN8737 — The body of the long necked figure reminds me of some elements at the nearby Abo Site.

DSCN8740 — A little detail of the area to the immediate left of the Two Serpents.

DSCN8742 — This angle shows a portion of the draw/canon that the Two Serpents watch over from their high perch on the cliff.

DSCN8751 — I think the sun was at its brightest for this shot.

DSCN8754 — This horizontal boulder in front of the panels had some very old looking petroglyphs on it.

DSCN8767 — Look to the left of the crack on the right. Do you see what looks like a black pictograph of an anthropomorph.

DSCN8773 — My trusty Outback, below the Two Serpents. This picture does not show how steep the climb up is.

DSCN8781 — I took this shot from the road, using the great telephoto capabilities of my P1000.

While working on my Gallery addition for my September 21, 2024 visit to this site, I went back and reviewed my original photos from 2021 and found the small panel to the left of the Two Serpents. After cropping the photo, I have added it to the original gallery.

Return to the Two Serpents Site

On the morning of September 21, 2024, I stopped by the Two Serpents Site on my way to meet my friend Richard at the Zuni Pueblo the next day. Details of this stop as well as the rest of this trip can be found on my blog. As noted in my blog, it was very, very windy that day, so I didn’t do much climbing around up high. I wish I had because after our trip Richard sent me his pictures and he got some photos of a panel up high that is near the Serpents, and one that I have never photographed or seen. I had known there was more up there and I look forward to returning some day to get some proper pictures of that other panel. Randy L. has some pictures posted on his blog that include this other panel, and, if you have never visited Randy’s blog, I would highly recommend it. Anyway, here are my photos from this visit to the Two Serpents site.

I NEVER GET TIRED OF VISITING THE MAGNIFICENT TWO SERPENTS.

THE MASK ON THE FAR LEFT APPEARS TO HAVE INTENTIONALLY USED THE ROCK FORMATION TO OUTLINE THE ELEMENT.

THIS BOULDER BELOW THE TWO SERPENTS APPEARS TO HAVE SOME VERY OLD PETROGLYPHS ON THE ALMOST HORIZONTAL SERVICE.

These last two photos are the ones that my friend Richard took and provided to me after the trip. It is certainly an interesting little panel and I look forward to seeing it some day.
