Chalk Bluff Petroglyph Site Gallery (Iny-267)

I visited the Chalk Bluff Petroglyph Site on Monday, May 24, 2021. The site is located on the edge of the Volcanic Tablelands, north of Bishop, California.  Directions:  From the intersection of Fish Slough Road, Casa Diablo Road, and Chalk Bluff Road, go west on Chalk Bluff Road for approximately 1.37 miles to reach the parking and trailhead for the site.  Shortly before noon, I tried to access the site from the north.  Later that afternoon I approached the site from Chalk Bluff Road on the south and that is when I took the photos of the petroglyphs I observed at the site.  For more details about my visit to this site, see my blog post.  I spent very little time at the site and hope to return some day to fully explore the area.  I hope you enjoy the few photos I did take!

There is a short trail at the Chalk Bluff Site.
These were the first petroglyphs I spotted at the site. I took this photo from quite a distance.
A slightly different view.
And yet another view of this same boulder.
These boulders were to the left (West) of that first boulder.
A little closer shot shows more detail.
This photo shows four separate boulders with petroglyph panels.
The large rectilinear element in the middle reminds me of dominoes.
It would be interesting to see these panels up close in good light.
This was an impressive panel before the weathering.
