Grayish Baywing Gallery

Agelaioides badius

The Birds of the World website introduces the Grayish Baywing with this descriptive information:  A medium-sized blackbird with a short bill. Both sexes are similar; mostly olive-brown with rusty wings. Inhabits open woodlands, savanna, and scrubby areas, but also found in farmlands, plantations, and urban parks where is often seen in small groups. Uncommon in the Atlantic Forest region. The song includes melodical whistles with short buzzy notes; song varies among individuals.

I met my first Grayish Baywing on the morning of Tuesday, August 23, 2023.  Our Jeff Parker Tour group was staying at Southwild’s Santa Tereza Lodge and I watched this bird during one of my walks around the lodge.  For details of my Brazilian trip that include the sighting of this bird, look here.  Below are a couple of my photos of this rather mundane bird.
