13 Moons Petroglyph Gallery

I visited the 13 Moons Petroglyph Site on the afternoon of Monday, May 24, 2021.  For my blog post of the trip that includes my visit to 13 Moons, look here.  For more detailed directions to this site, go here.  Although the site consists of a single boulder and a single panel, it is a magnificent place.  I hope you enjoy my photos!

These First Seven Photos Were Taken With My Nikon P1000…

My view of the panel as I walked across the draw toward it.
Snow capped mountains provide a dramatic backdrop.
Context.
A little different angle.
More context.
The classic view, looking north up the draw.
Another classic view of 13 Moons.

The Next Six Photos Were Taken With My Nikon D7200…

This photo shows more color from the boulder.
Bright blue sky makes a nice frame.
I took this photo from a higher vantage point, showing the ridge (where Sky Rock is located) to the west.
This view shows more of the draw where 13 Moons is located.
In this photo you can see some of the red around the three central moon elements.
What an interesting and inspiring work of rock art!

This Next Group of Photos Was Taken With My Samsung S9 Cellphone…

13 Moons, looking to the northwest.
Another classic shot.
Yours truly at 13 Moons.
A shot from a little closer, showing more detail.
In this shot you can see a little bit of red around the three center moons.
Detail of the lone anthropomorph at 13 Moons.
In this shot, you can see a large boulder across the draw. Sky Rock is near this boulder, to the southeast.
Looks like the anthropomorph has objects in each hand.
Another 13 Moons selfie!
