The Waterflow Petroglyph Galleries
In early June of 2018, Billy and I took a little rock art trip that included a visit to the Waterflow Site, located about halfway between Farmington, New Mexico, and Shiprock, New Mexico, right beside Highway 64. Our trip focused on Largo Canyon and the Ute Tribal Park, but we stopped at Waterflow in between the two. For my blog post on this trip, entitled “Largo — At Last”, look here. Because of its close proximity to a major highway, the site has suffered extensive damage, but it was still worth seeing. Here are some of the photos I took during our visit.
On the morning of October 3, 2025, I was driving home from Bluff, Utah, returning from my early Fall 2025 Rock Art Trip. As I was eastbound on Highway 64 near Waterflow, I readied my camera and took a few photos from the right shoulder of the roadway as I passed through. This small collection of photos is by no means complete, since I never got out of my car and I was unable to stop during much of the way through Waterflow. But, I think at least a couple of the images were new to me! The following gallery contains the photos I took that morning.
