THE WALLED OFF SPRING SITE IN POISON SPRING CANYON

The final rock art site I found in Poison Spring Canyon was near the Walled Off Spring, hence the name I assigned to the site.  It is located a little over nine miles into the canyon, right on the main road, near the spring.  I actually drove past the site on purpose.  I was looking for an old cowboy campground that was about three quarters of a mile past the Walled Off Spring.  There is supposed to be an authentic Butch Cassidy inscription on the back of a large boulder at this campsite.  I located what I thought was the campsite area, but an hour spent boulder hopping failed to result in finding the Butch Cassidy inscription.  So after that little mis-adventure, I drove back to Walled Off Spring to search for the rock art.  I located the art, but it was a very small site.  There were two small figures with shields down low, then some zoomorphs way up high.  By this time I was getting worried that I needed to head out of the canyon, so I very well could have missed some rock art in the area around Walled Off Spring.  But here are my photos of the art I did find.

I found this small pannel low on the canyon wall at Walled Off Spring. There was nothing else down low at this site.
The image on the left appears to have a "tail", similar to one of the figures at the Five Mile Panel.
This small panel also has a circular element to the left of the human figures.
The panels up high contain mostly zoomorphic figures. This was the most prominent...
Another shot of the D shaped body bighorn, with a snake in the interior of the body.
The other nearby bighorn elements do no appear to have the pronounced D-shaped body like the main figure.
These bighorns nearby look much older and are all square bodied.
The landscape: there appeared to be several springs nearby; here you can see seeps up on the canyon wall.
