The Stanley and Mildred Rosenbaum Residence
1939 and 1948 (Addition)
601 Riverview Drive

Dorothy and I took a tour of the Stanley and Mildred Rosenbaum Residence at 10:00 a.m. on the morning of Thursday, March 23, 2023. I also visited the home on Wednesday evening to take some night photographs. We were on the front end of our trip to Nashville to see Sean Dietrich’s debut at the Grand Ole Opry. The main residence was a classic L-shaped early Usonian style, built in 1939. There was an addition in 1948 that added a dormitory/bedroom (with double bunk beds), a guest bedroom, and a walled lanai which was eventually made into a Japanese Garden. The city of Florence bought the residence from the family in 1999 and did a very nice restoration. The city now operates the site as a museum and has a gift shop and information/ticket center across the street. We enjoyed seeing this beautiful home, but thought the additonal gallery/hallway leading to the new guest bedroom was a little odd and awkward. The structure sits beautifully on a wooded lot, almost directly across the street from Stanley Rosenbaum’s parents house, where he grew up. We would recommend a visit to this home, and a tour, which is available (without reservations) Tuesday through Saturday at a very reasonable cost ($10 per person, $5 for seniors). I hope you enjoy my photos. To see information and galleries of all the FLW sites we have visited, look here.
