The NAN Ranch Collection

Western New Mexico University Museum

Fleming Hall

I had the pleasure of visiting the Western New Mexico University Museum on August 2, 2022.  I had spent a couple of days exploring at NAN Ranch, and the owner of the ranch, Betty Lang, recommended that I visit the museum, which houses the NAN Ranch Collection.  To see my blog post that includes my visit to NAN Ranch and to the museum, look here.    I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to the museum.  The number and variety of artifacts contained in The NAN Ranch Collection is amazing.  If you are ever in the Silver City, New Mexico, area, I would highly recommend that you stop by the museum and see The Collection in person.  Here are my photos.  I hope you enjoy them!

THE MUSEUM IS HOUSED IN FLEMING HALL, A HISTORIC THREE STORY BUILDING ON CAMPUS THAT HAS BEEN BEAUTIFULLY RESTORED.
THE NAN RANCH COLLECTION IS THE LARGEST COLLECTION AND EXHIBITION OF MIMBRES POTTERY AND ARTIFACTS IN THE WORLD.
THIS PLACARD TELLS THE STORY OF HOW DR. HARRY SHAFER CAME TO CONDUCT INVESTIGATIONS AT NAN RANCH FROM 1978 TO 1996.
