THE GLADYS AND DAVID WRIGHT RESIDENCE, AS SEEN ON JANUARY 4, 2024 FROM THE N. RUBICON AVE. GATE.

The Gladys and David Wright Residence

1950

3212 E. Exeter Blvd.
Phoenix, AZ 85018

I visited the Gladys and David Wright Residence on the late afternoon of January 4, 2024.  The property was undergoing renovation, but I was able to get some photos through the N. Rubicon Ave. gate, as well as from the (second, inside) construction fence behind the E. Exeter Ave entrance.  This is a very cool  design and I am glad I got to see it.  According to Storrer’s 2017 Fourth Edition, the residence is owned by a non-profit and is open for public visitation.  This information is outdated, as you can see from this 2018 article stating that the property was on the market.  For more photos and information about this structure, look here (David Steiner’s The Wright Library).  I hope the new owners allow public visitation after the renovation is complete– I would love to experience the inside of this home!  Until then, I will have to make do with my photos, as seen below.

ANOTHER VIEW OF THE RESIDENCE FROM THE N. RUBICON AVE. FENCELINE.
ALTHOUGH STORRER LISTS THE E. EXETER AVE. ADDRESS, I BELIEVE THE NORTH RUBICON AVE ENTRANCE IS INTENDED TO BE THE PRIMARY ACCESS TO THE PROPERY-- NOTE THE CONCRETE BLOCK PLANTER NEXT TO THE GATE.
VIEW OF THE EXETER AVE. ENTRANCE TO THE PROPERTY. THE HOME HAS SPECTACULAR VIEWS OF CAMELBACK MOUNTAIN, AS YOU CAN SEE IN THIS PHOTO. ALSO, NOTE THE CITRUS TREES LOCATED ON THIS PART OF THE PROPERTY.
I TOOK THIS PHOTO FROM JUST INSIDE THE FIRST CONSTRUCTION FENCE. YOU CAN SEE THE GUEST QUARTERS BEHIND THE SECOND CONSTRUCTION FENCE.

THIS OUTSIDE WALL WAS BUILT WITH A 77 FOOT RADIUS. IT WILL BE INTERESTING TO SEE WHAT THE RENOVATION DOES WITH THE 2.2 ACRE GROUNDS AT THIS PROPERTY.
