TALIESIN WEST NATIONAL HISTORIC LANDMARK GALLERY
On the morning of Sunday, October 23, 2022, I took a guided tour of Taliesin West in Phoenix, Arizona. This iconic place, built by Frank Lloyd Wright beginning in 1938 as a winter residence for his Fellowship of apprentices, was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1974 and designated as a National Historic Landmark in 1982. Wright’s use of petroglyph boulders in the design and construction of Taliesin West is what initially sparked my interest and prompted me to visit. But once I got there, I was intrigued and in awe of the structures and compound that Wright designed and built so many years ago. Every where you look there is something unique, artistic, and beautiful. Although I have a gallery dedicated just to the petroglyphs at Taliesin West, I wanted this separate gallery to show the many other photos I took that day. It is my hope that you get a small sense of how magnificent, interesting, and special Taliesin West is through my photos. If you are ever in the Phoenix area, please consider giving this place a visit. Also, to read my blog post that includes my visit to Taliesin West, look here. I also have a separate blog post that highlights some of the memorable art I enjoyed at Taliesin West.

So, What Comes Next?
After my tour of Taliesin West, I stopped in the gift shop to buy a biography of Frank Lloyd Wright. I was deeply moved by visit, and I am thirsty for more. I hope I can convince Dorothy to accompany me as I will attempt to visit more of Wright’s magnificent creations. So many places and so little time! Toward the end of the tour (right before we went into the Main Studio) we stopped in the Dining Room where Andrew Pielage’s Sacred Spaces Photography Exhibit is now showing, until January 29, 2023. His photographs are beautiful and thought provoking. Again, I would highly recommend a visit to Taliesin West, especially while Mr. Pielage’s Exhibit is showing– you will not be disappointed! So I leave you with a few photos from “Sacred Spaces”….
