Rest In Peace, Toby Keith


I woke up early on the morning of Tuesday, February 6, 2024, and shortly thereafter heard the sad news that Toby Keith had passed away the night before at age 62 from stomach cancer.  I did not know Toby well, but had met him on a number of occasions in 2014 and 2015 through my volunteer work with the Texas State Women’s Golf Program.  Toby was a talented man.  He was also very friendly and kind when approached by one of his fans–  what you saw was what you got.  From my experiences around him, he didn’t put on any airs, and, as is not the case with many celebrities, he was the same guy, whether in the spotlight or away from it.  The death of this good man saddens me, but looking back through my old photos brought a smile to my face.  Here are a few photos of Toby.

I FORGOT TO MENTION, TOBY WAS ALSO VERY GENEROUS WITH HIS SUPPORT FOR OUR TOURNAMENT. WE WILL MISS YOU TOBY KEITH!
