Petroglyph Canyon Galleries

On Thursday morning, October 20, 2022, I hiked out to, and explored, an area in Petrified Forest N. P. known as Petroglyph Canyon.  This little canyon is in the general area of the Rainbow Forest Museum and the southern entrance to the park.  For details of my hike that day, see my blog.  I hope you enjoy the photos I took that day!

A Disappointing Visit to Petroglyph Canyon…

On September 24, 2024 my friend Richard and I made a brief stop at Petroglyph Canyon.  As I explained in my blog, our stop there was quite disappointing —  we were unable to locate the old CCC trails that I had hiked on my previous visit.   I don’t know if these trails have been intentionally been made unpassable, or if it is just simple neglect, but it was disappointing not to be able to access most of the rock art at the site.  We were able to see and photograph the large anthropomorph that is the signature element for the site, but that was about it.  Here are a few photos from that dissapointing day.
