Little Petroglyph Canyon (Coso Rock Art District)

I visited Little Petroglyph Canyon on the Naval Air Weapons Station China Lake early on the morning of November 2, 2019.  I was part of a small group organized through the Maturanga Museum and the Ridgecrest Petroglyph Festival.  For Details, see my blog under Rock Art Excurions entitled Caborca, Coso, and Beyond.  I hope you enjoy my photos from that day!

Significant Panels in Little Petroglyph Canyon

The signature panel at Little Petroglyph Canyon.
Unusual anthropomorphs with decorated bodies.
The far right element is a good example of the unusual atlatl style in the Coso Rock Art District.
A nice panel of zoomorphs.
A very old panel high on the canyon wall.
More Coso style atlatls.
This panel has examples of the Coso style "head on view" big horn sheep.
This small panel has a little bit of everthing.

Signage at the Canyon Entrance. Coso Mountain in the background.
Part of the canyon. Some parts had much higher walls are were narrower.
I was so happy to experience this magnificent little canyon!
One final shot of yours truly, deep in the heart of the Coso Rock Art District.
