La Cieneguilla Petroglyph Galleries|

My First Visit, July 23, 2017…

On the way up to Colorado for the Crested Butte Conference and subsequent rock art trip with my friend Billy Ward, I stopped in Santa Fe the first night so I could visit the La Cieneguilla Petroglyph site located just outside of town.  I got up early on the morning of Sunday, July 23, 2017, and headed out to the site, arriving just as the sun was coming up.  I spent the morning exploring the area, and had a wonderful time.  This is an interesting site, and I hope to visit it again someday to explore the area more fully.  For directions and a little information about this BLM site, look here.  To see the blog I wrote about the trip where I visited this site, look here.  Here are a few of the photographs I took on my visit.  I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed my visit to the site!

My Second Visit, June 3, 2025…

I paid another visit to the La Cieneguilla Site on the early afternoon of Tuesday, June 3, 2025.  My visit was brief, and I concentrated on the extreme north end of the site.  Some of the rock imagery I saw that day, I had seen on my previous visit, but I think I also found some new images.  For my blog post that includes my return to La Cieneguilla, look here.  Photos from this visit are in the second part of this gallery page below.

My Third Visit, September 26, 2025…

My third visit to La Cienguilla was on September 26, 2025, and was part of my early Fall 2025 rock art trip.  On this visit I focused on the south end of the site and, as is usually the case when I revisit large sites such as this, I saw some panels that I had seen before, but I also saw some art that was new to me.  Photos from this third visit are in the third Gallery below.
