Dorothy and I had endured a rather crappy week so we decided to reward ourselves with a trip up to San Marcos for lunch at Hays Co. Bar-B-Que on Friday, December 10, 2021.  I had driven right by this place hundreds of times while attending Texas State University, but had never stopped and tried their food.  We arrived about 10:45 a.m.  (they opened at 11:00 a.m.) and found ourselves first in line.  Their facility has an ample parking lot and a building that looks almost new.  Once inside we found a large indoor dining area decorated in a manner befitting a barbque joint — it looked inviting and comfortable.  We each got a tray and picked up cold sides (cole slaw, potato salad, and a banana pudding) from a case at the beginning of the serving line.  Dorothy got brisket, pork ribs, and beans.  I got brisket, jalapeno/cheese sausage, and a half chicken.  The meat was cut and weighed in front of us, and the servers were cheerful and helpful — we were off to a good start!  We gathered napkins, utensils, and water and went outside and found a table.
