Ismay Rock Shelter, Near the Colorado/Utah State Line, June 8, 2018

Most of the rock art at this site is behind the boulder I am standing on.

The Ismay Rock Shelter Site and County Road G "Roadkill"

June 8, 2018 found Billy Ward and I exploring the Ismay Rock Shelter, located off County Road G in western Colorado.  We had spent the night in Cortez and were headed to Bluff for the day.  As we traveled toward Ismay along County Road G, we spotted a couple of small sites (which we affectionately call “roadkill”) along the way, so we stopped and checked them out.  We enjoyed Ismay.  The rock art site was a pleasant surprise, and we enjoyed looking around the old store, which appears to be closed.  Hope you enjoy our photos from that day!  (PS – for more details of our time at this site, see my blog entitled “Largo — At Last” under the Rock Art Excursions Tab.)
