Christmas 2020

I am happy to report that Christmas 2020 was much, much brighter!  It was the first Christmas we have had since Christmas 2013 that really felt like Christmas and was filled with the things you associate with Christmas, like Joy, Gratitude, and Happiness.  Why the big change, after 7 years, and smack dab in the middle of a pandemic?  You have probably probably already guessed what it was–  the birth of your cousin John David “Little JD” Gerth.  Yes, we got to spend Christmas Day 2020, with your Aunt Liz, Uncle David and Little JD.  What a joy it was to once again shop for a grandchild and to wrap their presents.  But most of all, it was spending time with family.  Family has always been so important to us, and our roles and identities as parents and grandparents, has really taken a licking these last 6 plus years.  Anyway, we had a great Christmas.  On Christmas Eve, we picked up BeBe at Oak Tree and brought her out to our house at the lake.  DeDe had cooked a Gumbo especially for your Great Grandmother to enjoy that day, as we visited and exchanged gifts.  On Christmas Day DeDe and I took some steaks and shrimp to your Aunt Liz and Uncle Davids house.  We had a great time eating, opening presents, and holding and feeding Little JD.  For more pictures from our Christmas Day, click on the photo below.

While our Christmas Day 2020 was wonderful, you were never far from our thoughts.  Your mother gave us a few details about you and your life during our January 15, 2020 phone call, but we heard nothing about you from any source the rest of 2020.  We were delighted to see the picture below that your Grandmother Gail posted on Facebook on December 19, 2020.  Please know that we miss you each and every day, and that our love for you is steadfast.  We pray for you, your mom, and your dad, each and every day.  We will never give up hope that someday our family will be united.

Hard to tell too much with the masks, but we trust and pray you are all healthy and happy!
