Christmas 2019

Well Grandkids, I hope you guys had a wonderful Christmas in 2019.  Ours was ok.  Christmas Eve we picked up your Great Grandmother and drove to your Aunt Liz and Uncle David’s house in Fair Oaks Ranch.  We had a low key dinner and exchanged some gifts.  The pictures below are from that day.  I saw no pictures of you on Facebook, and received no information about you from any source during the year 2019.  Your Grandmother continues to send cards on your birthdays and on special occasions like Valentines Day and Easter, but we have no idea if you were ever allowed to see them.

To be quite honest and frank with you, there was a gray cloud hanging over our 2019 Christmas Season.   Your mom had emailed us on December 2, 2019, asking us to sign some papers that would allow your house to be refinanced and remodeled.  We spent 11 days trying to figure out how to respond and whether we should respond at all.  Her note was very curt and impersonal, and we were so confused after being contacted suddenly, out of the blue.  We decided to take the high road and cooperate in a cordial and friendly manner.  We spent much time and thought carefully considering what words to use and what thoughts to convey.  We exchanged a number of emails and texts over several weeks, and each time strugglng with what to say and how to say it.  Eventually we got the documents executed and your mother called and spoke to us on January 15, 2020.  We were so hopeful and encouraged that this contact might soften their hearts and pave the way for our family to be reunited.  Our hopes were for naught, as your mom and dad have steadfastly refused to communicate with us since that one phone call.  For a little more detail about these emails and the phone call look here (Notes To The Lang Grandkids).  So, that was our Christmas in 2019– we hope and pray that yours was much better!
