Canyon De Chelly Rock Art Gallery
I spent the morning of Wednesday, March 14, 2018 visiting the magnificent Canyon De Chelly. I first hiked down to the White House Ruins (the only trail into the canyon that you can hike without a guide), where I saw a few pictographs. I then drove the South Rim Trail and the North Rim Trail, visiting the overlook points. For a map of the canyon, look here. I was able to see some rock art from the Antelope House Ruin Overlook and one small panel from the Massacre Cave Overlook. I know there is a lot of rock art in this canyon that I could not see from the hike and from the rim drives, so I hope to return some day and tour the canyon with a Navajo guide. For my blog post that includes my visit to Canyon De Chelly, look here. Below are photos I took that day– I hope you enjoy them and that they give you some idea of the rock art at this canyon.
