Hummingbird Point Galleries
On the afternoon of April 3, 2019, Billy Ward and I hiked out to the Hummingbird Point site, after spending the morning at Oatman Point. We had originally planned to hike to Hummingbird Point from Oatman Point, but decided against it due to the difficult bushwacking we encountered near the base of Oatman Point. So instead, we drove out Rocky Point Road to a location from which we hiked roughly due south across the mesa top to Hummingbird Point. Once we got out to Hummingbird Point, I think we probably could have made it as per our original plan, since the river bed area at Hummingbird appeared to be much less congested than we encountered over at Oatman. I have posted a Google Earth view of the area that will hopefully assist with directions to the site and demonstrate what I am talking about. Hummingbird Point was well worth the hike! There were a number of nice panels and nice elements concentrated at the point. We also encountered a four person survey crew from Archaeology Southwest who was working at the site. Hope you enjoy my photos of this special place! (To read my blog post about the trip that includes my visit to Hummingbird Point, look here.)
The galleries above were taken with my D7200 Nikon camera, most with a AF-S NIKKOR 18-140mm lens (a few with my AF-S NIKKOR 70-300mm zoom lens). The pictures in the gallery below were taken with my cell phone, a Samsung Galaxy S7.
