MY FRIEND ANTHONY QUIROZ BEHIND THE WHEEL OF HIS TOYOTA SEDAN. HE IS A VERY GOOD DRIVER AND NEGOTIATES THE SAN JOSE TRAFFIC AND STREETS WITH CAREFUL AND EFFECTIVE DRIVING.

Meet My Friend Anthony Quiroz, Uber Driver Extraordinaire!

About a week before my arrival in San Jose, I asked one of the employees at Hotel Robledal to help me line up a driver for my first couple of days of independent exploring.  Bright and early (5:30 a.m. to be exact) on the morning of Friday, February 3, 2023, I met Anthony Quiroz when he picked me up and drove me to the University of Costa Rica campus to meet Rigo of Oropopo Experience.  Anthony also picked me up the next day, as well as my last morning in San Jose (Tuesday, February 14, 2023).  I found Anthony to be dependable, trustworthy, knowledgeable, and amiable.  In other words, Anthony was much more than a driver, over the course of our time together, Anthony became a friend.  Anthony gave me permission to give out his WhatsApp number as well as his email, so if you find yourself needing a driver while in San Jose, I would whole-heartedly recommend my friend Anthony!  Here is his contact information:

And here are a few pictures from our time together.  I had asked Anthony to take me to a Coffee Farm on my last morning in San Jose, then drop me at the airport.  Anthony took me to TWO coffee farms (Doka and Starbucks) as well as the Cathedral in his hometown of Alajuela (I had mentioned to him I love historic structures, and he was very gracious and proud to show me the stunningly beautiful Cathedral of the “Mango City”).

ANTHONY AND I ABOUT TO BEGIN OUR TOUR OF THE HISTORIC DOKA COFFEE FARM...I HIGHLY RECOMMEND BOTH ANTHONY AND THE DOKA COFFEE TOUR!
ANTHONY AND I ABOUT TO ENJOY LUNCH AT THE STARBUCKS COFFEE FARM.
ANTHONY SHOWED ME WHERE TO GET A FREE COFFEE SAMPLE AS WE WAITED FOR OUR TOUR AT DOKA TO BEGIN.
ANTHONY IS NOT ONLY A GOOD DRIVER, HE IS PRETTY GOOD AT PICKING COFFEE BEANS TOO!
ANTHONY AT THE DOKA OPEN AIR DRYING AREA.
OUR TOUR GUIDE AT DOKA WAS A NICE YOUNG MAN NAMED REYNALDO. HERE IS REYNALDO EXPLAINING TO ANTHONY AND OUR SMALL GROUP THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF COFFEE THEY PRODUCE AT THE FARM.
ANTHONY AT THE STARBUCKS COFFEE FARM. WE DIDN'T ACTUALLY TAKE A TOUR THERE, BUT ANTHONY SHOWED ME ALL THE COOL PARTS OF THE FACILITY.
INSIDE THE BEAUTIFUL CATHEDRAL LOCATED AT THE CENTRAL SQUARE IN ANTHONY'S HOMETOWN OF ALAJUELA. IT WAS NICE TO RELAX AND SAY A FEW PRAYERS IN THIS BEAUTIFUL PLACE ON THE WAY TO THE AIRPORT AND MY FLIGHT HOME.

When I travel outside of the United States, it seems that God always puts the right people in my path.  People that help me, befriend me, introduce me to the local culture, protect me, and enhance my travel experience in general.  I am grateful God put you in my path Anthony.  Vaya con Dios, Amigo!
