THE HORSECOLLAR RUIN SITE GOT ITS NAME FROM THE DOORS ON THESE TWO STRUCTURES, WHICH RESEMBLE, YOU GUESSED IT, HORSECOLLARS.

Horsecollar Ruins Gallery

On the afternoon of March 17, 2018 I visited the iconic Horsecollar Ruins site located in Natural Bridges National Monument.  I accessed the site by hiking into the canyon using the Sipapu Bridge Trail, then hiking down canyon to the site.  This large site is worth seeing.  The structures with the horsecollar shaped doors are well preserved and very interesting.  There is also a kiva that, because of its state of disrepair, shows how the roofs of such structures were constructed by the ancient builders.  I hope you enjoy my photos, but would encourage you to experience this beautiful site in person if you ever get the chance.
