Rock Art at Gila Cliff Dwellings National Monument

On August 4, 2016, I visited the Gila Cliff Dwellings National Monument on my way to the 2016 Pecos Conference.  I am glad I took time to visit this special place.  The drive up to the Monument is stunning, and the well preserved cliff dwellings are certainly worth a visit.  While there, I saw rockart in two places.  In the cliff dwellings themselves there were a few pictographs.  Along one branch of the Trail to the Past near the  Lower Scorpion Campground there were a number of pictographs.  It is my understanding there is more rockart to be seen in the park, but it requires a much longer hike along the river.  Unfortunately I did not have time to explore these additional areas, but I hope you enjoy the photographs of the rockart I did have time to see!
