ROSEATE SPOONBILL GALLERY
(Platalea ajaja)
eBird provides this description of the Roseate Spoonbill: Large pink wader; tail is color of orange sorbet. Immatures are duller. Feeds by sifting through water with bill shaped like big, flat spoon. Found in a variety of shallow freshwater and saltwater habitats.
I saw Roseate Spoonbill in a couple of places during our trip to Rockport in early March, 2020. The first sighting was at Moore’s pond, which is site number 16 on the Aransas Pathways map. I also saw Roseate Spoonbill while at the Aransas National Wildlife Refuge, along the Heron Flats Trail. Someday I hope to get some better shots of this beautiful bird, but, until then, hope you enjoy these!
