Yours truly at the Jawoyn Rock Art Site deep inn the heart of Nitmiluk National Park, September 24, 2019.

The Jawoyn Rock Art Galleries (Nitmiluk National Park)

At the tail end of my Australian trip (as I headed back to Darwin from the Kimberly), I decided to splurge, and visit the Jawoyn Rock Art Site in Nitmiluk National Park outside of Katherine, Australia.  This site is accessible only by helicopter.  I had to purchase two tickets for the helicopter trip, so I gave one to a young park seasonal employee from Argentina named Cecilia.  Cecilia and I, along with our pilot and guide (Matt Humprhey) enjoyed an exciting helicopter ride to the small gorge that contains the Jawoyn Rock Art Site.  It was a beautiful and sacred place, and I am grateful I got to experience it.  Hope you enjoy my photos from that wonderful afternoon.

A Short Video of a Small Shelter at Jawoyn....

And Finally, a Few Shots That Show the Landscape of the Jawoyn Gorge...

Easy to see why the ancients were drawn to this place.
One of several very unique rock structures at the site.
My excellent companions that day, Matt and Cecilia.
Victory....I made it to Jawoyn!
