Yellow-throated Euphonia

Euphonia hirundinacea

Ebird offers this descriptive information for the Yellow-throated Euphonia:  Tiny finch of tropical lowlands and foothills, mainly in humid areas. Found in forest canopy, adjacent clearings with trees, gardens. Usually in pairs, sometimes small groups that associate readily with other euphonias, especially when feeding at mistletoe. Male has rich yellow throat and underparts (lacks black throat of male Scrub Euphonia); female has pale grayish throat and yellow sides creating a vested appearance. Young male looks like female with an adult male head stuck on.

I saw this bird for the first time on the morning of November 14, 2024, during my trip to Belize with The Texas Ornithological Society.  This bird was common around the grounds at the Lamanai Outpost and, later in my trip, at the feeders at Black Rock Lodge.  I enjoyed watching this striking little bird!  Below are some of my pictures of this species.
