THE LARGEST OF THE UTE PANELS AT WALNUT KNOB FEATURES A LARGE RIDER ON HORSEBACK AND A SHIELD ELEMENT.

Walnut Knob Gallery

Early on the morning of April 25, 2022 I visited the Walnut Knob rock art site, located just west of Comb Ridge.  My visit to Walnut Knob was part of my Spring 2022 rock art trip.  I found this to be a pleasant site and very easy to get to.  The two main panels are located on the back (west) side of the main rock feature at the site.  There also are some small panels on boulders that surround the main rock feature.  Most of the rock art at this site is attributed to Ute artists and has a distinctive style, with a shield element at the center of each of the main panels, and, perhaps most telling, riders on horses.  Below, you will find a more complete collection of photos I took that morning; I hope you enjoy them.
