The Trailhead Site
During my trip planning for my September 2024 trip with my friend Richard to Petrified Forest N. P., I decided to suggest that instead of hiking to the Starving Man Panel and Mountain Lion Mesa from Martha’s Butte, we hike to the site using a park service road. The service road interesects the main park road 3.15 miles north of the Martha’s Butte trailhead pullout. I had briefly explored the area around the intersection on one of my prior visits to the park and found one small petroglyph panel on a flat stone. As Richard and I headed out on our hike to the Starving Man on September 27, 2024, we ran into a couple of panels along the road a short distance from where we parked at the intersection. I decided to call these three small panels “The Trailhead Site”. For my blog post that includes our visit to this site, look here. Below are some of the photos I took on that day.
