The Shaman Panel


I visited The Shaman Panel in Montezuma Canyon on April 23, 2022.  It was the last panel I visited that day.  It is located about halfway up a canyon wall, and requires a little scramble to reach the ledge in front of it.  The panel contains at least fifteen anthropomorphs, many with headdresses.  There are two large linear elements in the center and top portions of the panel.  Some say the larger of the two elements resembles a spider and is the Spider Woman from Hopi lore.  The other looks like a double ended atlatl.  This is very interesting little panel and, thank goodness, is pretty well preserved and contains no graffiti that I saw.  To read the blog post that includes my visit to this unique site, look here.  Below are some of the photos I took of the Shaman Panel in Montezuma Canyon.
