The Sentinel

(IH-40 Exit 303)

My friend Richard and I visited and photographed this small site on the afternoon of September 26, 2024.  That afternoon we had planned to walk Lithodendrum Wash to look for a large sheep petroglph that Richard had heard about.  We thought the road (right off IH-40) would take us right to the edge of the wash, but we ended up being blocked by a locked gate.  From that vantage point I spotted a large petroglyph, which I decided to call “The Sentinel”.  We were able to get closer to the panel by getting permission from the Rock Shop up on the hill to cross their property.  Below are several photos that I took that day.
