The River House Ruin Galleries
I visited the Ruin House Ruin rock art sites along the San Juan River on April 26, 2022, which was day one of my Spring 2022 rafting trip. This was our final site of our first day on the river and it was a fitting way to end our day. We spent several hours at the site and I enjoyed every minute of it! The most outstanding elements at the main site are large pictographs located high up on the cave wall. To the west of the main site (downriver) there are scattered petroglyphs and a small well preserved ruin shaped like a triangle. To the east of the main ruin (upriver) are a number of petroglyph panels, near the spring that was used by the inhabitants of River House. Below you will find some of the photos I took during my visit — I hope you enjoy them!
