I visited the Edge of the Cedars State Park Museum in Blanding Utah on October 2, 2025 during my Fall 2025 Rock Art Trip. While my time at the museum was limited, I am glad I did stop by. The museum is well curated and I found the outdoor portion (behind the main museum building) especially interesting and informative — how often do you get to climb down into a Kiva or explore an old style dirt covered hogan! One of the other things I really enjoyed about this museum are the curated artifacts that tell when, where, and how the object was found and preserved. Legend has it that the Kiva ladder on display was originally found by my friend Vaughn Hadenfeldt. Be sure to check out the brightly colored and extremely well preserved Macaw Feather Sash — you won’t see a finer artifact on the planet. Also take note of the lobed tablet display and the possible connection to, and explanation of, the two lobes that can be seen at the Wolfman Petroglyph Site. And last, but not least, be sure to enjoy the art and sculptures done by Joe Pachak. Vaughn introduced me to Joe during one of my visits to Bluff, and I will never forget shaking his hand! Below are some of the pictures I took that day — I hope you enjoy them! If you ever find yourself in Blanding, Utah, I would encourage you to stop by this wonderful museum.
