THE CRACK-IN-ROCK SITE, NEAR A SMALL RUIN AT THE BASE OF A CLIFF, RIGHT NEXT TO THE ROAD.

I visited the Crack-in-Rock Site in Canyon del Muerto on the early afternoon of Saturday, March 7, 2026, as part of my Spring 2026 Rock Art Trip. This Modified Basketmaker panel is located right next to the road in a narrow shelter created by a huge slab leaning against a cliff.  Campbell Grant states that the figures are done in red and white, but I did not observe any red paint during my visit.  I should have d-stretched this small site, but didn’t take time to do that during our brief visit.  Grant also says there are white positive handprints —  I didn’t see those either.  Glad we stopped by this cute little site!
